Construction enquiries range from simple availability questions to complex project discussions. That is why chatbot versus live chat should be decided by enquiry type, not by a generic promise of “24/7 engagement”.
Use a chatbot for low-risk triage
A chatbot can collect service required, location, approximate timing and contact details, answer approved FAQs and route the enquiry. It should not invent prices, promise project feasibility or provide unsupervised technical, contractual or safety advice.
Use live chat when context matters
Human chat is more appropriate when the prospect has a specific scope, procurement question, commercial constraint or complex requirement that needs clarification.
A hybrid model often works best
Use automation to capture and route straightforward enquiries, then escalate to a person when the conversation moves beyond approved information. Define what data is stored, who can access it and how enquiries enter the CRM. Measure qualified opportunities and response quality, not chatbot conversation volume.
