There is no reliable single “average” marketing budget for home services. An emergency plumber, electrician, landscaper, cleaner and renovation company have different job values, service areas, seasonality and capacity.
Start with job economics and capacity
Work backwards from average gross profit per completed job, repeat value, close rate and the number of jobs the team can actually service. Marketing that fills the diary beyond operational capacity can damage response times and reviews.
What the budget may need to cover
- local SEO and Google Business Profile work;
- paid search for high-intent service queries;
- service and location pages;
- call, form and booking tracking;
- CRM follow-up and missed-call recovery;
- review and referral workflows.
Measure booked and completed work
Compare channels using qualified enquiries, booked jobs, completed jobs, cost per acquired customer and gross profit. Cheap leads are not useful if they fall outside the service area, need work you do not provide or never book.
