A logistics CRM should reflect the real buying process, from initial enquiry through qualification, proposal and won contract. Generic lead stages hide too much.
Use stages that match logistics sales
- new enquiry;
- qualified / service fit confirmed;
- discovery or data requested;
- solution / rate preparation;
- proposal or tender submitted;
- follow-up / negotiation;
- won / onboarding;
- lost / no decision.
Automate administration, not operational commitments
Useful automation includes acknowledgement, lead ownership, overdue reminders, proposal follow-up prompts and source tracking. Pricing, capacity, routing and service commitments should come from the appropriate controlled systems and people.
Capture lost reasons
Record why opportunities do not progress: wrong geography, service mismatch, contract size, price, timing, integration requirement, operational constraint or no response. Marketing can then stop generating the wrong demand.
Measure the full commercial funnel
Track response time, qualification rate, proposal rate, win rate, sales-cycle length, pipeline value and won revenue by source.
