A home services Google Ads budget should be based on current auction data and job economics, not a generic monthly spend or fixed CPC benchmark.
Separate urgent and planned demand
Emergency plumbing, planned electrical work, cleaning, landscaping and renovation enquiries behave differently. Separate campaigns by service and urgency so budget, ad copy and landing pages match the customer’s need.
Work backwards from completed jobs
Use live Keyword Planner and account data to estimate click costs. Then model click → qualified enquiry → booked job → completed job → gross profit. This gives a meaningful ceiling for acquisition cost.
Protect the budget
- target only genuine service areas;
- use negative keywords for jobs, DIY, training and irrelevant searches;
- track phone calls, forms and bookings;
- review search terms frequently;
- pause demand you cannot service because of geography, capacity or job type.
Scale when campaigns produce acceptable booked and completed-job economics, not just cheap leads. See our home services marketing cost guide.
